I’m here to make your life easier as a parent
I’ve been a journalist, digital editor and content creator for 20 years. During that time I’ve done everything from interviewing celebrities to extolling the virtues of a well-fitting bra. Most recently, I led the team at one of the UK’s leading parenting websites, MadeForMums, where my role involved testing and assessing hundreds of parenting products – from pushchairs to outdoor toys – to create content and manage a huge parenting awards program. You know those gold badges you see on nappies, toiletries, shop displays and kids food? That was us!
This work is something I am hugely passionate about. As a mum myself, I know how hard it is to work out which products you actually need, and what is just unnecessary stuff being marketed to you by an industry worth millions of pounds a year.
Did you know that households with kids spend over £7,000 per year more than those without? Everyone wants a piece of that pie. There are some incredible products out there that really can make a difference to your life with children. There are also some lovely luxuries that aren’t necessary, but make life easier or more fun. And, of course, there’s a whole lot of stuff that you don’t really need. Knowing what to buy based on your family’s unique circumstances takes time and research, and that’s something most busy parents just don’t have.
That’s where I come in. I’m here to do the hard work for you. I have the time and resources to dig deeper. I go to launch events, I attend trade and consumer shows, and I talk with brands and experts about what’s coming next. I research, test and compare these products, and continually speak to parents about what’s working for them. I then sift through all of this information and condense it into content you can consume in the way that works for you, be that downloadable guides, website articles, emails, social videos or short-form lists. In the coming months, I’ll be doing a deep-dive into the world of parenting products to bring you guides on everything from budget baby items to travel gadgets.
Why can you trust me? As well as being experienced within the industry and working hard to keep my knowledge up to date, I’m a mum myself. I know how important it is that stuff just works. I’ve completed safety training in key areas such as SIDS and safer sleep and car seat safety so you know I’m considering every detail in an informed way when making product choices.
Most importantly, I listen. Working for myself means I have time to talk to parents – my absolute favourite thing about my job – and offer tailored advice and recommendations.
