I am qualified to work as an independent car seat safety advisor, having completed car seat safety training licensed by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and CPD.

Finding the right car seat is very dependent on a family’s specific circumstances. When it comes to recommending products in my buying guides, I aim to offer a cross-section of the market to suit different needs and budgets.

I believe in the importance of educating parents and caregivers on the following:

  1. The relevant safety standards and how to identify them on products
  2. The importance of choosing a car seat that fits the intended vehicle(s) correctly
  3. The importance of fitting the car seat into those vehicles correctly every time
  4. The importance of fitting the child into their seat correctly and adjusting the seat as they grow
  5. The benefits of keeping a child rear-facing for as long as possible

I aim to always include at least one product that’s passed the Swedish Plus test in every list I share.

Understandably, people get very passionate about car seat safety. Online discussion on this topic can get heated very quickly, and a small minority can take this to extremes. I have witnessed some very unnecessary personal attacks within otherwise supportive communities when this topic comes up.

I don’t believe people respond to aggression or shame, and I feel it’s important to be both compassionate and realistic when it comes to giving advice. I also feel strongly that any product suggestions should be supported with better education around fitting: even the safest car seat in the world is only safe if it’s used correctly.

I do not condone personal attacks or libellous comments towards me or anyone else. Please share your knowledge and opinions with kindness.
